Job Overview
A reputable U.S.-based immigration law firm is seeking a Remote Immigration Attorney licensed to practice in Puerto Rico. This position is an excellent opportunity for a committed and detail-oriented legal professional to advance their career while working remotely. The attorney will manage a full caseload involving detained and non-detained immigration matters and collaborate with a team of attorneys and legal support professionals. Duties

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Conduct legal consultations and explain immigration concepts and strategic options to clients

  • Prepare and submit immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense filings

  • Conduct intake interviews, including with detained individuals at immigration detention centers

  • Review and revise USCIS applications and supporting documentation

  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court hearings

  • Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and filings for EOIR and USCIS cases

  • Stay up to date on changes in immigration law and regulations

  • Collaborate with prosecutors, law enforcement, and community-based organizations on immigration-related matters

  • Coordinate with legal assistants and team members to ensure timely and accurate case handling

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in immigration law

  • Demonstrated success managing both detained and non-detained immigration cases

  • Familiarity with EOIR, USCIS, family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, and citizenship applications

  • Licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico (required)

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)

  • Experience using case management software (preferred)

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines across multiple cases

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Puerto Rico
