Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Washington, DC is looking to hire a highly qualified Associate Attorney specializing in Health Law with a focus on Data Privacy and Security. The firm seeks an individual with strong interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with both legal and non-legal professionals. The ideal candidate will have significant experience advising on health data privacy regulations, security compliance, and incident response.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on compliance with state and federal privacy regulations, particularly related to health care data.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with a focus on data privacy and security provisions.
  • Provide strategic counsel on data protection, management, and security, including conducting data flow and mapping exercises.
  • Support clients in responding to data breaches, ensuring appropriate incident management and mitigation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal and regulatory issues impacting clients in the healthcare sector.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in health law, data privacy, and security.
  • Strong ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks at both the state and federal levels.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with a focus on technology and data security.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, both internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with an ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in good standing in the jurisdiction of Washington, DC.

Skills:

  • Expertise in health law and data privacy regulations.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly related to data security and commercial contracts.
  • Ability to manage incident responses related to data breaches and security incidents.
