Job Overview: A prominent law firm in Portland, Maine is seeking an experienced Associate to join its nationally recognized Cannabis practice within the Corporate Department. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated licensing and regulatory matters in the growing cannabis industry. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in Corporate, Litigation, or Regulatory work and will join a dedicated team in one of the premier Corporate practices.

Location:

Duties:

  • Work on cannabis-related licensing and regulatory matters.
  • Assist clients in navigating corporate, litigation, and regulatory issues in the cannabis industry.
  • Draft legal documents, provide counsel, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients on complex legal issues related to the cannabis sector.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on evolving cannabis regulations and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Corporate, Litigation, or Regulatory work (experience as a Paralegal prior to becoming a lawyer can be included).
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and client service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Stellar writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials are required.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Maine, or eligible for admission.
