Litigation Attorney

Job Overview: A prominent law firm is currently seeking a motivated Litigation Attorney with 4 to 7 years of relevant experience to join their Long Island office. The ideal candidate will work on defending high-exposure cases in both state and federal courts, specializing in areas such as premises liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, New York labor law, construction, maritime, products liability, and transportation. Duties:

• Manage individual case files from inception through trial (trial experience is beneficial but not required)
• Draft and respond to legal pleadings and discovery requests
• Conduct and defend depositions for both party and non-party witnesses
• Draft and argue discovery and dispositive motions
• Collaborate with excess insurers, appellate counsel, and trial counsel on high-exposure defense strategies

Requirements:

• 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in defending cases within the firm's practice areas
• Strong skills in writing, communication, analysis, and creative legal thinking
• Experience with managing a case from initial stages through trial preparation

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in New York State
• Admission to federal courts in New York preferred
• Additional state bar admissions or willingness to gain admission in other jurisdictions is strongly preferred

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and analytical skills
• Ability to handle complex litigation and work independently
• Proficient in oral argument and motion practice
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to develop innovative defense strategies
