A law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced IP - Technology Transactions (Life Sciences) Associate Attorney to join their team in Santa Monica, CA. The ideal candidate will have substantial law firm experience representing biotechnology companies and large pharmaceutical firms in patent licensing and collaborative efforts to advance novel therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostic, and digital health technologies through clinical trials and toward FDA approval.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent biotech and big pharma clients in licensing patents and collaboration agreements.
  • Provide legal support for the development and commercialization of novel therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostics, and digital health technologies.
  • Handle licensing, collaboration, and commercial partnering transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements related to intellectual property and technology transactions.
  • Advise clients on regulatory matters, particularly FDA-related issues, ensuring compliance throughout clinical trials and the approval process.
  • Facilitate partnerships between biotech companies and large pharmaceutical firms.
  • Support clients in navigating collaborative research and development agreements.
  • Prepare and manage legal documents and contracts with superior accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all transactions and legal activities.

 

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in licensing, collaboration, and commercial partnering transactions in the life sciences sector.
  • Substantial law firm experience representing biotechs and large pharmaceutical companies.
  • Superior academic credentials.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • CA Bar admission (or eligibility to take the next available CA Bar exam).

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Active CA Bar license (or eligibility to take the next available CA Bar exam).

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Proficient with technology and legal software.
