Job Title: Senior Energy Development Attorney

Job Overview: A Portland-based law firm is seeking a Senior Energy Development Attorney with over 7 years of experience to join their Energy Development practice group. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced attorney in energy transactions, project development, and financing, seeking to advance their career in a dynamic and collaborative legal environment. The role involves working on complex transactions, including renewable and traditional energy projects, and interfacing with multidisciplinary teams across various offices.

Duties:

  • Lead and manage energy-related transactions and project development.
  • Oversee due diligence, EPC contracts, supply agreements, and operations & maintenance (O&M) contracts.
  • Advise clients on international trade restrictions, tariffs, and their impact on energy projects.
  • Review and negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and site control documents for distributed energy projects.
  • Collaborate with attorneys from different offices and practice groups.
  • Produce high-quality client-ready documents and materials.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in energy transactions and project development.
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory issues impacting the energy sector, including international trade restraints.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues independently.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Oregon State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Expertise in energy law, including renewable and traditional energy sectors.
  • Strong communication and client management skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a passion for understanding client goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with large-scale energy transactions and project financing.
