A law firm in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a dedicated Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The attorney will report to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney, manage a caseload, provide legal counsel to clients, and collaborate with a supportive Criminal Defense Team on various legal matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of criminal defense matters, including client interactions, case preparation, and courtroom appearances.
  • Advise clients on their legal rights, responsibilities, and potential outcomes of their cases.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and contracts.
  • Attend pretrial hearings, trials, and other court proceedings on behalf of clients.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and defense arguments.
  • Manage workload effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Provide comprehensive legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits and risks.
  • Gather additional evidence and information to support clients' defense strategies.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and assist in witness preparation.
  • Utilize bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred) to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking clients and witnesses.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in client interactions and teamwork within the legal team.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Newly sworn-in attorney or up to 2 years of experience, including internship experience in handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, or local levels.
  • Active Bar admission in Arizona, or eligibility to be admitted imminently.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
