Collections Associate Attorney

A law firm in Columbia, MD, is seeking a Collections Associate Attorney with 2-8 years of legal practice experience, including expertise in consumer collections and creditor’s rights. The ideal candidate will manage a high file volume efficiently, conduct thorough research, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Duties:

• Review and evaluate creditor claims, assessing risk factors.
• Promptly conduct meaningful attorney review of claims upon receipt.
• Prepare and draft complaints for filing in state courts.
• Efficiently manage caseload, collaborating with staff to ensure files move effectively.
• Draft motions for judgment and other necessary legal motions.
• Negotiate and review settlements.
• Enforce post-judgment actions.
• Counsel clients on options and remedies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• Admission to the State Bar in Maryland (MD) and Virginia (VA).
• 2-8 years of legal practice experience.
• Experience with consumer collections and creditor’s rights.
• Ability to manage a high file volume efficiently.
• Strong research skills and ability to communicate results effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar in Maryland (MD) and Virginia (VA).
