Job Overview:

A law firm based in Dallas, TX, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced BIS, OFAC, and International Trade Lawyer. The ideal candidate will know extensively about U.S. export controls, sanctions, customs regulations, and other international trade-related laws. This role involves providing expert legal counsel, managing compliance matters, and addressing government enforcement actions in a dynamic legal environment.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on U.S. export controls (BIS), sanctions (OFAC), customs regulations, and international trade laws.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures related to international trade and sanctions.
  • Conduct legal training and compliance audits for clients and internal teams.
  • Handle licensing, opinion work, and filings to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Manage internal investigations and respond to government enforcement actions.
  • Support clients with investigations related to FCPA, CFIUS, and national security matters.
  • Prepare and review legal documents, correspondence, and international trade and sanctions reports.
  • Advise clients on best practices for regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals and departments to address complex legal issues.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in U.S. export controls (BIS), sanctions (OFAC), customs (including tariffs), and other international trade regulations.
  • Proven track record in counseling, training, compliance audits, internal investigations, and responding to government enforcement actions.
  • Active membership in the DC Bar.
  • Experience with FCPA and national security investigations (CFIUS) investigations is highly desirable.
  • Strong academic credentials from a top-tier U.S. law school (JD required).
  • Prior work experience in a large law firm is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from a top-tier U.S. law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the DC Bar.
