A law firm in Austin, TX is seeking a talented Regulations, Investigations, Securities and Compliance Lawyer with expertise in U.S. export controls, sanctions, customs, and international trade regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in counseling, training, licensing, opinion work, filings, compliance audits, internal investigations, responding to government enforcement actions, and developing compliance policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice on U.S. export controls (BIS), sanctions (OFAC), customs (including tariffs), and other international trade regulations.
  • Conduct compliance audits and internal investigations related to regulatory issues.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures tailored to client needs.
  • Handle licensing matters and prepare regulatory filings as required.
  • Respond to government enforcement actions and inquiries.
  • Conduct training sessions for clients on regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and ensure clients remain compliant with evolving laws.
  • Assist in investigations related to other areas such as FCPA and national security matters (CFIUS).

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top-tier U.S. law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the DC Bar.
  • Minimum X years of experience in a law firm environment, specializing in regulations, investigations, securities, and compliance.
  • Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated record of success.
  • Experience with large law firm practices is preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively counsel clients on complex regulatory issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
