Insurance Defense Attorney

Duties:

• Handle insurance defense cases, including bodily injury, first-party bad faith, and general civil defense matters.
• Manage all aspects of litigation, from case inception through trial, including depositions, oral arguments, hearings, and settlements.
• Conduct depositions and attend court proceedings, representing clients professionally and persuasively.
• Develop case strategies, negotiate settlements, and provide regular updates and reports to clients.
• Take the lead on client interactions and maintain strong communication throughout the litigation process.
• Work independently and manage cases with minimal supervision, ensuring that all deadlines are met and objectives are achieved.
• Collaborate effectively with a team of attorneys and legal staff to meet client needs and maintain a high standard of work.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 7 years of litigation experience, with a focus on insurance defense, bodily injury, and bad faith claims.
• Proven experience managing civil cases through trial, including depositions, hearings, and oral arguments.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple cases simultaneously.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
• Motivated, self-starter with a proactive approach to handling assignments and responsibilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be admitted to practice law in Utah; additional licensure in other states is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Utah State Bar membership is required.
• Additional bar licenses in other states are preferred.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of civil litigation and insurance defense law.
• Experience in handling all phases of litigation, including trial preparation, depositions, and settlement negotiations.
• Proficiency with legal research tools and case management systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
