A law firm located in Austin, TX, is seeking a skilled Immigration Attorney to join their team. This position involves managing a diverse caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with an experienced Immigration Team. The role requires expertise in immigration law, including representing clients in various proceedings and preparing comprehensive immigration applications. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of immigration law experience and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Sr. Associate Attorney and manage an assigned caseload.
  • Explain complex immigration concepts and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage and prioritize a workload of cases efficiently.
  • Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Present updates and changes in immigration law to law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategies, preparing clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide detailed legal analysis to identify potential benefits and options for clients.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and advance legal cases effectively.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian relief, EOIR matters, detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.
  • Preferably bilingual in Spanish.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in Texas or eligibility for reciprocal admission.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and legal assistants.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing immigration applications and legal briefs.
  • Experience working with law enforcement and community organizations is a plus.
