Job Overview:

Expertise in related fields such as mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), or computer science is a valuable addition.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications focused on medical devices and bioengineering technologies
  • Respond to office actions issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Assist in the preparation of legal opinions related to intellectual property
  • Conduct prior art searches and patentability assessments
  • Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for IP protection
  • Advise clients on IP strategy, patent prosecution, and patent portfolio management

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Patent Agent, specifically within medical devices or bioengineering
  • Strong experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and responding to office actions
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough prior art searches and provide patentability assessments
  • Strong legal and technical research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

Education:

  • A degree in bioengineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science, at the undergraduate or graduate level, is highly preferred

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice before the USPTO is required

Skills:

  • Expertise in medical devices, bioengineering, or related technologies
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence (A.I.), and computer science is advantageous
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to handle complex legal and technical issues
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
