Job Title: Estate Planning Counsel

Job Overview:

A distinguished law firm based in Fremont, CA is seeking a motivated legal professional to join its Private Client Services group. This role is tailored for an attorney passionate about guiding individuals and families through estate planning matters with clarity and compassion. The position entails direct client engagement, strategic document drafting, and collaboration with legal staff to deliver tailored solutions to clients’ legacy planning goals.

Duties:

  • Engage directly with clients to gather information and provide counsel on estate planning strategies

  • Draft, review, and revise a wide array of estate planning instruments, including wills, revocable living trusts, durable powers of attorney, and healthcare directives

  • Oversee document execution appointments and coordinate notarization with support staff

  • Analyze and provide insight into existing estate planning structures and recommend updates or enhancements

  • Prepare and process deeds for property transfers, including trust transfer and quitclaim deeds

  • Conduct legal research on estate planning and probate-related issues as needed

  • Collaborate with team members across departments to ensure seamless client experience

  • Utilize document generation platforms such as WealthCounsel and standard legal software (e.g., Microsoft Word)

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in the state of California

  • Demonstrated experience in estate planning, including document drafting and client consultation

  • Strong client-facing communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts in layperson terms

  • Comfortable working autonomously while coordinating with legal support personnel

  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic legal environment and manage a growing caseload

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active California State Bar membership (required)

Skills:

  • Expertise in estate planning law and probate avoidance strategies

  • Proficient in legal drafting and legal research

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Familiarity with WealthCounsel or comparable document drafting software
