Associate Attorney - Civil Rights

A law firm seeks a dedicated and passionate Associate Attorney to join its growing team in New York, NY. This full-time, hybrid position offers the opportunity to handle civil rights and commercial litigation cases while also enjoying flexibility in work location. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in civil rights law, excellent litigation experience, and a commitment to advocating for justice. The role involves managing cases from start to finish, collaborating with colleagues, and working directly with clients.

Duties:

• Lead and manage civil rights and commercial litigation cases from inception to trial, including legal research, motion drafting, and discovery processes.
• Analyze and assess potential new cases for representation, providing thoughtful recommendations.
• Participate in high-stakes negotiations, mediations, and pre-litigation advocacy.
• Regularly interact with clients, ensuring clear communication and case updates.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and execution.

Requirements:

• 1 to 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney in litigation, with a strong focus on civil rights or commercial law.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in civil rights law, including Section 1983 and anti-discrimination laws.
• Proven ability to handle legal research, motion practice, and discovery effectively.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle a busy caseload.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with clients directly.
• Admitted to practice law in New York.
• Clerkship experience and proficiency in Spanish are preferred, though not required.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must be admitted to the New York State Bar.
