A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Attorney with 2-4 years of experience. The attorney will handle Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) hearings, and depositions, and work closely with paralegals to file and obtain necessary documents. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the New York Workers' Compensation process from start to finish, as well as some experience in Social Security Disability (SSD) cases. Spanish language skills are preferred, and admission to the New York State Bar is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) hearings, advocating on behalf of injured workers.
  • Conduct depositions and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony in Workers' Compensation and SSD cases.
  • Collaborate with paralegals to manage case files, including the preparation and filing of necessary documents for Workers’ Compensation and SSD cases.
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to clients throughout the New York Workers' Compensation process, from initial claim filing to settlement or hearing.
  • Manage Social Security Disability (SSD) cases, assisting clients with the application and appeals processes, ensuring that claims are properly supported by documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of case progress, prepare legal documentation, and ensure all procedural requirements are met within required deadlines.
  • Stay updated on developments in New York Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability laws to ensure best practices in client representation.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on their cases, explaining legal concepts and next steps clearly and effectively.
  • Utilize Spanish language skills (if applicable) to serve Spanish-speaking clients in Workers' Compensation and SSD cases.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience handling Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability cases.
  • In-depth knowledge of the New York Workers' Compensation process from start to finish, including claims, hearings, and appeals.
  • At least 1 year of experience in handling Social Security Disability (SSD) cases (preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience in handling Workers' Compensation cases (required).
  • Spanish language skills (preferred) to assist in representing Spanish-speaking clients.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present legal arguments effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet filing deadlines.
  • Time management skills, ensuring that all tasks related to Workers’ Compensation and SSD cases are completed efficiently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • SSD Certification or experience in Social Security Disability law is beneficial but not required.
