A law firm in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Aerospace and Defense Attorney with 3+ years of experience in federal government contracts, preferably with knowledge of U.S. export controls. The ideal candidate should have experience advising clients on A&D matters, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in administrative or court proceedings.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on issues in government and commercial contracts involving aerospace and defense matters
  • Draft legal memoranda, bid protests, REAs, claims, and substantive policy articles
  • Research the law applicable to government contracts, subcontracts, administrative law, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage projects and maintain organizational skills
  • Represent clients in administrative or court proceedings, including bid protests and claims
  • Conduct internal and government investigations
  • Provide compliance planning and training
  • Handle transactional and litigation support

 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in federal government contracts
  • Knowledge of U.S. export controls, including OFAC sanctions
  • Admission to the State Bar of Michigan or the D.C. Bar, or eligible for admission by anticipated start date
  • Portable book of business is a plus

 

Education:

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan or the D.C. Bar, or eligible for admission by anticipated start

date

 

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in legal research services
  • Experience with government contracting cost issues and IP rights
  • Familiarity with the FAR, DFARS, and other agency FAR supplements
  • Space law experience is a plus
  • Experience with FMS, FMF, security clearances, and CFIUS is a plus
