Job Overview

A respected law firm is seeking a skilled Estate Planning Associate to join its Estate Planning Practice Team in Birmingham, Michigan. This position is ideal for a candidate with 3-5 years of experience in complex estate planning, including trusts, wills, estates, and tax-related planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects, maintaining exceptional attention to detail, and delivering top-tier client service in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Assist clients with the creation and execution of trusts, wills, and estates.

  • Advise clients on complex tax-related estate planning matters.

  • Manage and execute estate plans for taxable estates.

  • Work closely with senior attorneys and clients to develop tailored estate plans.

  • Prepare and review legal documents, including trust agreements, wills, and powers of attorney.

  • Manage multiple client matters simultaneously, ensuring timely and effective delivery of legal services.

  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide outstanding customer service.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in estate planning, including trusts, wills, estates, and tax planning.

  • Proven experience with taxable estates.

  • Strong academic credentials and excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

  • Attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality legal work.

  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Admission to the Michigan Bar is required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • An LLM in Estate Planning or Taxation is preferred but not required.

  • Admission to the Michigan Bar is required.
