Job Overview
An established and highly regarded law firm in the Houston area is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Immigration Attorney. This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional passionate about immigration law and looking to grow within a dynamic and supportive legal environment. The role involves managing a caseload, collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants, and representing clients in a variety of immigration matters.

Location

Duties

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and provide strategic legal guidance

  • Represent both detained and non-detained individuals before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Conduct intakes with detained individuals at detention centers

  • Prepare and review a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions

  • Draft and submit legal briefs and filings for immigration cases

  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court/USCIS appearances

  • Meet with prospective clients to conduct consultations and recommend legal strategies

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial agencies, and community organizations on immigration law updates

  • Maintain organized management of caseloads using case management software

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in immigration law

  • Strong case management skills with a proven track record of progressing legal matters

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a legal team

  • Familiarity with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR proceedings, citizenship, and other USCIS applications

  • Proficiency in case management software (preferred)

  • Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish (preferred)

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed and admitted to practice law in the United States

Skills

  • Strategic legal thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong written and verbal advocacy

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
