Job Overview: A law firm seeks a Mid-Level Environmental Regulatory Associate Attorney to join their Reston, VA office. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in environmental law and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality work while fostering positive client and colleague relationships.

Duties:

  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, and third parties.
  • Produce deliverables and respond to correspondence efficiently.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work products.
  • Meet deadlines and perform work duties as required.
  • Foster positive work relationships and comply with firm policies.
  • Engage in physical and sedentary activities related to work tasks.
  • Perform additional duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and another state.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental law.
  • Prior law firm or agency experience.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar admission in applicable jurisdictions.

Skills:

  • Strong background in key environmental statutes and regulations (TSCA, FIFRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, RCRA).
  • Concentrated experience in environmental litigation and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with advising clients on emerging environmental issues and liability exposure.
  • Experience negotiating compliance and cost recovery agreements.
  • Familiarity with environmental operations and remediation processes.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, attention to detail, and good business judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively or independently.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Conceptual thinking and persuasive communication abilities.
  • Management skills.
