Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in New York City is seeking an attorney to join its institutional compliance and civil rights practice. This role involves working on cutting-edge issues related to Title IX, civil rights compliance, and institutional response strategies for a diverse range of clients, including educational institutions, corporations, and non-profits. The ideal candidate will be experienced in conducting investigations, developing policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Duties:

  • Conduct investigations related to Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, or other civil rights laws, including cases involving sexual and gender-based harassment and violence, protected class discrimination, and criminal misconduct.
  • Assist institutions in implementing trauma-informed, fair, and impartial prevention and resolution processes.
  • Develop and refine written policies, procedures, and educational materials tailored to institutional needs.
  • Provide regulatory compliance guidance for frameworks such as Title IX, the Clery Act, and child protection laws.
  • Collaborate with clients on systems design, infrastructure improvements, and governance strategies.
  • Deliver training and consultation to a diverse array of institutions on compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Travel to client locations as needed to conduct on-site reviews, training, or investigations.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated expertise in Title IX, civil rights law, and related regulatory frameworks such as the Clery Act.
  • Experience addressing issues related to sexual and gender-based violence, protected class discrimination, or child and elder abuse.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills in professional settings.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State (NY Bar admission required).

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices and fair resolution processes.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, policy drafting, and institutional governance.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
