EOIR Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A premier law firm located in Los Angeles, CA, is looking to hire an experienced Immigration Attorney to handle EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review) cases. This is an exciting opportunity for an immigration attorney with 1-5 years of experience to manage a caseload and represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals. This position offers significant professional growth within a supportive and dynamic legal team.

Duties:

  • Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defense, and other related USCIS applications.
  • Conduct client intakes with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Review and revise immigration applications and packets, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Advise clients and prepare them, including witnesses, for court appearances or USCIS interviews.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay informed on immigration law developments.
  • Meet with prospective clients to provide strategic consultations and develop appropriate legal strategies.
  • Prepare legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases, including removal defense and humanitarian cases.
  • Provide clients with comprehensive legal analysis to determine potential benefits for their cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, preferably in EOIR and removal defense.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move cases forward efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS cases.
  • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in good standing.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Expertise in immigration law, particularly in EOIR and removal defense.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent client-facing and negotiation skills.
