Job Overview:
A law firm based in Chicago, IL is seeking a motivated litigation attorney to join its group handling complex legal disputes and collective action defense. The role involves substantial federal court practice, with a primary focus on defending against group employment claims under federal and state statutes. This opportunity is offered through a legal recruitment partner acting on behalf of the firm.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in complex multi-party litigation, primarily in federal court

  • Handle matters related to wage and hour laws, including class and collective actions under the FLSA

  • Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery materials

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on procedural and substantive issues

  • Prepare for and participate in hearings, depositions, and settlement negotiations

  • Collaborate closely with legal teams and firm stakeholders to strategize case development

  • Maintain timely and clear communication with clients and opposing counsel

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of hands-on litigation experience

  • Prior exposure to collective employment disputes, labor law, or class action litigation preferred

  • Familiarity with federal court procedures and complex civil litigation

  • Strong writing and oral advocacy skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and case workflows independently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois (or ability to waive in)

Certifications:

  • Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois preferred

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of collective labor law and procedural rules

  • Excellent legal drafting, case analysis, and oral argument capabilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented legal environment

  • Competence in managing high-volume caseloads and tight timelines

  • Proficiency in legal research platforms and litigation software
