Job Overview: A law firm seeks an associate attorney to support its Restructuring, Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Practice Area. This role is available in multiple office locations, including Albany, Buffalo, New Haven, New York City, Rochester, or Syracuse. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex bankruptcy cases or prior judicial clerkship experience and will play a key role in representing clients in financial restructuring and insolvency matters.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in bankruptcy proceedings, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases.

  • Provide counsel on financial restructuring, insolvency litigation, and creditor-debtor negotiations.

  • Draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and agreements.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters.

  • Advocate for clients in court hearings and proceedings.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to provide strategic legal solutions.

  • Stay informed on developments in bankruptcy law and financial regulations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in complex bankruptcy matters or judicial clerkship experience.

  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York State or Connecticut.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in bankruptcy law and financial restructuring matters.

  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to draft and review complex legal documents with precision.

  • Experience managing bankruptcy cases from inception to resolution.

  • Familiarity with legal research databases and case management tools.
