A law firm in White Plains, NY is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, research, and litigation skills, and will be responsible for managing workers' compensation claims from file review to trial preparation. The role involves extensive legal research, client representation at hearings, and collaboration with expert witnesses. The position requires meeting annual billable hour targets and demonstrating a high level of professionalism and client service.

Duties:

  • Review and analyze workers' compensation claims and related files.
  • Conduct extensive legal research and draft client correspondence, discovery devices, summations, appeals, and appellate briefs.
  • Regularly represent clients at depositions and hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.
  • Prepare for and attend trials, including developing trial strategies and presenting cases.
  • Retain and evaluate expert witnesses as needed for case preparation.
  • Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1950 hours.
  • Respond promptly to email and phone inquiries from clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate excellent client interaction skills and maintain a professional telephone manner.

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the state of New York; admission in other states is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, with a focus on workers' compensation preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid research capabilities and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage a high caseload and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting billable hour targets.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-approved law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in New York; additional state admissions are advantageous.
