Job Overview:

A law firm seeks an experienced Real Estate Attorney with a focus on real estate law and commercial transactions to join its team. The position is ideal for a licensed attorney in Wisconsin or Iowa with over 7 years of experience. The attorney will have the opportunity to work on complex transactions and collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including Fortune 100/500 companies, government agencies, and developers. This role offers flexibility, with the option to work from offices in Milwaukee, Madison, West Des Moines, or remotely.

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate letters of intent, purchase agreements, assignments, and other ancillary and closing documents.
  • Review and analyze all aspects of financing and closing complex real estate transactions.
  • Handle various types of lending and financing transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts related to real estate transactions.
  • Manage assigned cases independently, ensuring timely delivery of work and meeting deadlines.
  • Supervise the work of paralegals and legal assistants, while collaborating with other attorneys as needed.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in real estate law and commercial transactions.
  • Experience in handling multi-jurisdictional transactions and working with diverse clients such as corporations, government agencies, and financial institutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Wisconsin or Iowa (additional licenses in Illinois or Indiana are beneficial).

Skills:

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills in real estate and commercial transactions.
  • Proficiency in reviewing financial documents and closing complex deals.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage and oversee the work of paralegals and legal assistants.
