Entry-level Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an entry-level Criminal Defense Attorney to join its team in Sacramento. Duties

• Provide legal advice to clients, explaining their rights and outlining potential courses of action.
• Prepare and file necessary legal documents, including motions and other case-related filings.
• Represent clients during pretrial hearings and advise them on effective strategies after each hearing.
• Manage court appearances, and trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and conducting legal research.
• Analyze case details and potential outcomes based on knowledge of relevant legal precedents.
• Accumulate evidence to support the client’s defense or challenge the prosecution’s charges.
• Assist clients in preparing for depositions and guide them in understanding case strategies.
• Maintain an organized caseload, ensuring that all deadlines and client needs are met.

Requirements

• Demonstrated interest in criminal defense, either through law school clinics, internships, or volunteer work.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with clients, witnesses, and colleagues.
• Ability to manage cases efficiently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented attitude with a collaborative approach to legal work.
• Experience with case management software is a plus.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications
