A law firm is seeking a qualified and motivated Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Wilmington, DE office. The successful candidate will have substantial exposure to state and federal environmental laws, including environmental compliance, regulations, transactions, enforcement, and litigation. This role requires strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, particularly in managing client matters involving remediation under CERCLA and other environmental laws. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a team player, and possess exceptional academic and professional credentials. Admission to practice law in Delaware is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Litigation:
    Represent clients in litigation involving environmental enforcement and disputes under federal and state environmental regulations, including CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and RCRA.
  • Environmental Compliance:
    Advise clients on compliance with environmental regulations and statutes, ensuring they meet state and federal requirements.
  • Transactional Support:
    Provide legal guidance on environmental issues in corporate and real estate transactions, including conducting due diligence and identifying potential liabilities.
  • Remediation Case Management:
    Manage the representation of clients involved in environmental remediation projects under federal and state environmental laws, particularly focusing on CERCLA cases.
  • Legal Research and Writing:
    Conduct detailed legal research and draft legal memoranda, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents related to environmental matters.
  • Client Communication:
    Regularly engage with clients to provide updates, strategic advice, and solutions to complex environmental challenges.
  • Collaboration and Team Support:
    Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and support staff to develop case strategies and ensure high-quality legal representation.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • 2-3 years of experience in environmental litigation or environmental law.
  • Licensure:
    • Must be admitted to practice law in the state of Delaware or eligible for admission.
  • Environmental Law Expertise:
    • In-depth knowledge of federal and state environmental laws, with a particular focus on CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act.
  • Skills:
    • Strong legal research and writing skills, with an ability to analyze and apply environmental regulations and statutes.
    • Ability to manage complex environmental litigation cases, including matters related to remediation.
  • Attributes:
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and in a team.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on client service.
    • Excellent academic and professional credentials.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.):
    Must hold a J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
