A law firm in Chatham is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estate Planning and Estate Administration Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, probate, and estate administration, with a dedication to providing excellent client service and a passion for helping clients protect their assets and achieve their legal goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial consultations to educate prospective clients on legal planning for asset protection and family security.
  • Quote fees and engage new clients.
  • Provide clients with guidance on selecting executors, power of attorney, trustees, guardians, and other fiduciaries.
  • Prepare comprehensive estate plans, from simple to complex, using advanced techniques to protect and preserve assets, avoid court conflicts, and meet clients' objectives.
  • Oversee support staff in assembling documents and funding trusts.
  • Explain legal documents and complex legal concepts to clients in accessible language.
  • Oversee the proper execution of legal documents.
  • Handle probate and estate administration matters.
  • Occasionally travel to client homes, hospitals, and nursing facilities if clients are unable to come to the office.
  • Collaborate with clients' financial and insurance professionals.
  • Complete projects or tasks as requested by the managing attorney.
  • Perform legal research and brief firm members on legal developments in the field.
  • Assist the managing attorney with seminar and webinar presentations and other speaking engagements.
  • Contribute to the firm's efforts to improve processes and services.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
  • Admission to practice law in New York State.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • 3-5 years of experience in estate planning.
  • Elder law and estate administration experience is a plus.

 

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with clients, lawyers, and other professionals with poise and confidence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and capable of quickly learning new software programs.
  • Conscientious regarding work completion, deadlines, time management, and attendance.

Certifications:

Admission to the New York State Bar.
