Job Overview: A law firm in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a talented Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex litigation cases, working closely with seasoned attorneys across various legal disciplines, including professional liability, general liability, and commercial coverage. The position will involve immersion in all stages of legal cases, providing a broad scope of experience and significant client interaction.

Duties:

• Analyze and summarize legal documents.
• Conduct legal research on various topics, including individuals, businesses, and worksites.
• Evaluate cases and develop strategic defense plans.
• Meet with clients and recommend legal strategies.
• Investigate case facts, and prepare for and conduct depositions.
• Prepare and argue motions before the court.
• Participate in hearings and mediations.
• Prepare witnesses and corporate representatives for trial.
• Draft briefs for trial and appellate courts.
• Write defense mediation summaries.

Requirements:

• Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
• 4-6 years of experience in defense litigation, with a focus on insurance defense; experience in professional liability and/or coverage litigation is a plus.
• Strong critical thinking, research, writing, and communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
• Client-focused approach and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, handling a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in reviewing and interpreting financial records is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Must hold an active Georgia State Bar license.
