A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a dedicated Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage all phases of litigation from investigation to trial and have a strong ability to negotiate settlements.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee a caseload of personal injury litigation cases.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates on case status and addressing their concerns.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies and defense attorneys to achieve favorable settlements.
  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and briefs.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on various legal issues related to personal injury litigation.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including organizing exhibits, preparing witnesses, and drafting jury instructions.
  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys on case strategy and execution.
  • Stay updated on developments in personal injury law and litigation practices.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of litigation experience with a focus on personal injury cases.
  • Proven first-chair trial experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of personal injury law, including torts, negligence, and insurance principles.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successful settlements.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and case management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Member of the Illinois State Bar and in good standing.
