Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group. This position involves handling various aspects of employee benefits, executive compensation, and benefits related to mergers and acquisitions. This role provides an opportunity to work in a national practice environment, contributing to a team that emphasizes high-quality service and client satisfaction.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Draft, design, implement, and administer tax-qualified and non-qualified retirement plans.
  • Oversee health and welfare benefit plans and provide support on related matters.
  • Manage executive compensation and benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Address taxation issues related to executive compensation arrangements, including compliance with Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Design and draft employment and other executive compensation arrangements.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation.
  • High level of academic achievement and experience in a law firm setting.
  • Superb writing, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ambition, drive, and a team-oriented approach.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of practice or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits and executive compensation laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions as they pertain to employee benefits.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and independently.
