Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on education law issues, including state and federal regulations, policies, and case law.
  • Draft legal memoranda, opinions, briefs, and other documents related to education law matters.
  • Assist in representing school districts, educational institutions, and public agencies in administrative hearings and litigation.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on matters such as student rights, special education, governance issues, and employment matters within educational settings.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings, hearings, and negotiations with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay updated on developments and changes in education law and regulations that may impact clients.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on case strategy and client representation.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to the California State Bar in good standing.
  • 0-2 years of experience in education law or related fields (public agency law, administrative law, etc.).
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
  • Excellent presentation skills, both in written submissions and oral arguments.
  • Strong academic record, preferably with coursework or experience in education law.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar.
