Duties:

  • Advise clients on legal matters related to post-conviction relief, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce sentences, and early termination of probation.
  • Represent clients in motion hearings, advising them on the best legal strategies.
  • Handle ongoing criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing.
  • Collaborate with criminal attorneys and legal assistants to manage a caseload.
  • Perform legal research and prepare motions, legal documents, and client correspondence.
  • Analyze the probable outcomes of cases based on legal precedents.
  • Manage a diverse caseload and maintain effective communication with clients.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients to assess case outcomes and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience in criminal defense or immigration law.
  • Knowledge of criminal cases at the state and local level.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and assist other attorneys as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
  • Strong criminal defense knowledge or familiarity with immigration law.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
