Job Overview:
A dynamic law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience to join its family law and litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in family law, with Virginia bar licensure required (Maryland and/or DC licensure is a plus). Trial experience is necessary, though clerkship experience may be considered for the right individual.

Location:

  • Northern Virginia, with appearances in various courts including Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William County.

Duties:

  • Provide litigation support to partners and manage an individual caseload, including drafting pleadings and discovery.
  • Prepare for and represent clients in family law cases in local courts.
  • Participate in settlement conferences, depositions, and mediations.
  • Meet with and advise potential new clients.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required.
  • Licensed by the Virginia State Bar.
  • 2-5 years of litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in family law preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in firm technology and ability to work in a paperless environment.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to travel to court and other locations as needed.
