Immigration Attorney Legal Writing Specialist

A law firm seeks a highly skilled Immigration Attorney with a focus on legal writing and appellate work to join its expanding team in Las Vegas. The ideal candidate will have at least 4-5 years of experience in immigration law, with particular expertise in drafting appeals, memorandums, and motions to reopen. This role primarily involves preparing high-quality legal briefs and filings for EOIR (Executive Office for Immigration Review), federal circuit courts, and handling cases related to FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests. The position offers the opportunity to manage a caseload independently, collaborate closely with an experienced immigration team, and contribute significantly to the firm's appellate practice.

Duties:

• Draft and prepare memorandums, appeals, motions to reopen, and other legal documents related to immigration appellate cases.
• File appeals before the EOIR, Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and federal circuit courts.
• Handle complex immigration cases involving FOIA requests, utilizing the information to support legal strategies.
• Develop and implement effective legal arguments for clients seeking relief or challenging removal orders.
• Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring compliance with firm and court requirements.
• Collaborate with the legal team to devise strategic approaches for immigration cases involving appellate work.
• Stay current with changes and updates in immigration law, particularly as it pertains to appellate practice and federal cases.
• Provide legal analysis to clients and assist with case preparation for hearings and appeals.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a strong emphasis on legal writing and appellate work.
• Proven experience drafting and filing appeals with EOIR, BIA, and federal courts.
• Expertise in handling motions to reopen and cases involving FOIA requests.
• Strong legal research and writing skills, with a track record of producing high-quality legal documents.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Experience using case management software is preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the State Bar and authorization to practice law in the state of Nevada.
