Job Overview

This role involves supporting senior attorneys in advocating for student-related legal matters, particularly those involving accessibility, discrimination, and special education compliance. Ideal candidates will have up to five years of legal experience and a strong foundation in legal writing, analytical thinking, and interpersonal communication.

Duties

  • Assist in representing public educational institutions in legal issues affecting students from preschool through 12th grade

  • Draft memoranda, legal opinions, and correspondence related to student rights and disability law

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on federal and state education regulations and case law

  • Support attorneys in litigation and dispute resolution before administrative bodies and government agencies

  • Engage in policy interpretation and guide compliance with disability-related statutes

  • Participate in meetings and strategy sessions with clients and internal legal teams

  • Contribute to the development of preventative legal strategies for educational entities

Requirements

  • 0–5 years of legal experience, preferably in education, civil rights, or administrative law

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize legal information and present it clearly

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues

  • Willingness to work collaboratively within a team-oriented legal practice

  • Interest in public education law, disability accommodations, and student advocacy

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar
