Job Overview:

A well-established law firm in Richmond, VA, seeks a highly skilled Mid-Level Antitrust Associate Attorney to join their team. This role is designed for a talented legal professional with strong experience in antitrust and competition law, specifically in mergers and acquisitions, merger compliance, and transactional counseling. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting businesses across various industries by providing strategic guidance and effective solutions in competitive practices.

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel on antitrust issues, including antitrust audits, compliance programs, and business counseling.
  • Engage in complex antitrust litigation, including class action suits, government investigations, and grand jury proceedings.
  • Advise on M&A activities and compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act, as well as other merger and acquisition regulatory requirements.
  • Support international competition matters, including European Union state aid regulations, trade compliance, and cartel investigations.
  • Represent clients in private treble damage litigation and debarment proceedings.
  • Collaborate on high-stakes criminal prosecutions and international cartel investigations.
  • Assist with strategic planning and execution for clients involved in antitrust-related challenges or disputes.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in antitrust law, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, merger compliance, and transactional counseling.
  • Demonstrated experience with premerger compliance and Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) filings.
  • Proven ability to take on substantial responsibilities, including managing client interactions and complex cases.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong legal writing skills.
  • Preferred background includes experience with a large law firm or a relevant government agency.
  • Prior federal clerkship experience is highly advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Virginia Bar or eligibility for admission.

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with the Virginia State Bar (or ability to gain admission).

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly within the context of antitrust and competition law.
  • Proficiency in handling complex legal research, writing, and documentation.
  • Exceptional communication and client relationship management skills.
