Senior Immigration Attorney

A law firm seeks a Senior Immigration Attorney for its Miami, FL office. As a Senior Immigration Attorney, you will collaborate closely with a team of legal professionals, guiding both clients and junior associates through complex legal matters, and have the opportunity to further grow your career within a firm dedicated to professional development and client success.

Duties:

• Explain complex immigration laws and provide clients with strategic legal guidance
• Represent clients in removal proceedings, both detained and non-detained, before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
• Oversee and manage a varied caseload, ensuring timely progress and effective legal representation
• Conduct client intakes, particularly with detained individuals at immigration centers
• Prepare and file a range of immigration applications, including family-based petitions, removal defenses, and more
• Review immigration documents and applications, ensuring completeness and accuracy
• Engage with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding developments in immigration law
• Provide consultations to potential clients and formulate strategies for their cases
• Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances or USCIS interviews
• Conduct thorough legal analyses of cases to uncover potential benefits and devise effective case strategies
• Draft and submit legal briefs for a wide array of immigration cases

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of experience in immigration law
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, offering support and strategic insight
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
• Proven record of advancing legal cases and managing multiple files efficiently
• Experience handling various immigration matters, such as Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS-related applications
• Familiarity with case management software is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar admission (or awaiting admission)

• Ability to think strategically and develop comprehensive legal strategies
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Experience working with diverse immigration matters and case types
• Competency with case management software is preferred
