A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate with 4-6 years of experience to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public entity litigation and a demonstrated ability to handle complex cases. This position requires an attorney who can take initiative, conduct legal research, draft motions, and manage depositions. The role offers flexibility with remote work, while still providing opportunities to work on high-profile cases and collaborate with a dynamic team.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in public entity litigation matters, including both governmental and private sector cases.
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, including dispositive motions, to support litigation strategies.
  • Take and defend depositions, and manage the discovery process.
  • Handle all phases of litigation, from pre-trial through trial.
  • Develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys and clients.
  • Communicate with clients and provide updates on case progress and developments.
  • Prepare for and participate in settlement negotiations and mediation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations during the litigation process.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of litigation experience, with a focus on public entity litigation.
  • Experience in taking depositions, drafting dispositive motions, and managing discovery.
  • Strong academic credentials and a solid foundation in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to independently handle cases and take initiative in managing litigation matters.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Expertise in public entity litigation and complex case management.
  • Strong research and legal writing skills, including the ability to draft persuasive motions.
  • Proven ability to take and defend depositions.
  • Solid understanding of trial preparation and strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
