Job Overview: A law firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Corporate Associate Attorney to join its Investment Services team in Chicago, IL. Duties:

  • Provide legal advice on corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on investment companies and advisers.
  • Assist with regulatory and compliance issues under federal securities laws, including:
    • Investment Company Act of 1940
    • Securities Act of 1933
  • Engage in transactional work, including mergers and acquisitions related to investment companies.
  • Collaborate with shareholders to support business development efforts and engage in client-facing activities.
  • Manage multiple legal cases and transactions concurrently in a dynamic work environment.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of relevant experience in corporate or securities law at a law firm.
  • Experience working with registered investment companies and investment advisers.
  • Familiarity with federal securities laws, including the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Securities Act of 1933.
  • Ideally, experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly related to investment companies.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic performance in law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar or steps to become admitted.

Skills:

  • Strong ability to manage multiple legal projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on client service.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment company regulations and federal securities laws.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
