A prestigious law firm in Los Angeles is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 3 to 5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in depositions, motion practice, and assuming a key role in managing their own cases. This position offers a challenging and dynamic opportunity for a mid-level litigation associate who is looking to take on more front-line responsibilities while being part of a collaborative and supportive team. The firm provides competitive benefits, including a 401(k) retirement plan, health and dental contributions, a subsidized gym membership, and disability coverage. Bonuses are discretionary and typically awarded at the year-end.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently handle depositions, including both taking and defending, in various litigation matters.
  • Prepare and argue motions in court, demonstrating strong advocacy and presentation skills.
  • Assume primary responsibility for managing and strategizing litigation cases, working closely with senior attorneys and clients.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and engage in case preparation across a range of complex legal matters.
  • Engage in discovery, including reviewing and producing documents, and preparing witnesses for testimony.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys on complex litigation strategies, ensuring the successful outcome of cases for the firm’s clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing timely, effective, and strategic legal counsel.
  • Manage a target of 1,750 billable hours annually, contributing to the firm’s overall success.
  • Work toward achieving discretionary year-end bonuses based on performance and contributions to the firm’s litigation practice.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of litigation experience, preferably in a mid-to-large firm setting.
  • Proven track record of taking and defending depositions, with the ability to work independently in this capacity.
  • Strong experience in motion practice, including drafting and arguing motions in court.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage litigation cases, providing strategic input and working autonomously when necessary.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet billable hour requirements.

Educational Background:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.

Certifications:

  • Continuing Legal Education (CLE) in litigation practice is preferred but not mandatory.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong litigation and advocacy skills, with the ability to present arguments effectively in court.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, opposing counsel, and colleagues.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing deadlines and handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively within a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ownership of cases and contribute to the firm’s success.

Benefits:

  • Competitive 401(k) retirement plan with firm contributions.
  • Contributions to health and dental insurance plans.
  • Subsidized gym membership or access to fitness facilities.
  • Disability insurance coverage.
  • Discretionary year-end bonuses based on individual performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level litigation associate to take on a leadership role in their cases and work with a respected team in Los Angeles. If you are looking to build your litigation skills and advance your career, this role offers both growth and reward in a supportive firm environment.

Although this Los Angeles-based firm boasts a fairly solid full-service practice, its high-profile entertainment department has brought the firm celebrity status and established it as one of the nations premier entertainment law firms. The firm has an entrepreneurial and aggressive feel to it, yet candidates often remark how wonderfully balanced its attorneys lives appear to be. While associates work hard, people are friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy spending time together outside of work. The pay is decent though slightly lower than the top firms (reputedly a trade-off for lower billable hour requirements); nevertheless, the firm consistently manages to attract some of the best talent in the United States.

Your information will not be forwarded to any employers at this time. A recruiter will contact you with more information once our internal review of your resume is completed.
