A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for its Merrillville office. Location:

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, orders, discovery, and legal memoranda.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery and conduct legal research.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Review client documents and draft case evaluations.
  • Prepare status reports and maintain correspondence with clients.
  • Assist with and participate in mediations, pretrial settlement conferences, and court appearances.
  • Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.
  • Manage a substantive caseload with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Perform complex legal work with substantial discretion.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Indiana.
  • Two to ten years of experience in any area of law. 
  • Proficient with Lexis and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate hearings in state and federal courts with professionalism.

Education:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Indiana.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent drafting, writing, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.
  • Proficient in Lexis and MS Office.
