A law firm seeks an Associate Trial Attorney to join its dynamic insurance defense litigation practice in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, strong litigation skills, and a genuine desire to handle cases from start to finish. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for trial attorneys looking to grow and develop in the field, with a focus on managing court proceedings and trial dockets.

Duties:

  • Manage all aspects of casework from intake to disposition
  • Handle daily court proceedings, including motions, filings, and ongoing casework
  • Prepare and argue motions, manage discovery, and prepare trial materials
  • Represent clients in court, including jury trials and hearings
  • Draft clear and concise legal documents, including pleadings and reports
  • Work closely with clients to address their needs and keep them informed throughout case progress
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and judges
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues that arise during the case
  • Foster a client-focused, results-driven practice

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for trial experience
  • Self-motivated and capable of independently managing cases
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a trial docket with professionalism and confidence
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Detail-oriented with a customer service-oriented approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients, judges, and opposing counsel
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team while maintaining individual case responsibilities
  • Coachable, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas, in good standing

Skills:

  • Litigation and trial preparation
  • Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills
  • Strong organizational and case management abilities
  • Ability to effectively manage a diverse caseload
