Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a Real Estate Finance Counsel for its practice, based in New York. The ideal candidate will possess broad-based commercial real estate finance experience, with the ability to manage sophisticated transactions. This position involves both lender and borrower-side representation across a wide range of real estate finance transactions, such as senior mortgage loans, construction loans, leverage loans, mezzanine financing, and A-Note and co-lender transactions. The firm’s clients include commercial banks, private equity investors, REITs, developers, and other participants in the real estate investment market.

Location:

  • New York, NY

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee commercial real estate finance transactions, including senior mortgage loans, construction loans, leverage loans, mezzanine financing, and preferred debt and equity investments.
  • Represent both lenders and borrowers in real estate finance deals.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex financing documents.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of transactions, including deal structure, client communication, and team coordination.
  • Work with colleagues to deliver comprehensive legal solutions to clients in the real estate investment market.
  • First chair transactions, lead deals, and manage client relationships with support from a talented team.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in commercial real estate finance, with a focus on sophisticated transactions.
  • Experience representing both lender and borrower sides in real estate finance deals.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead transactions, including drafting and negotiating key documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Motivated and able to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state(s) where the position is located.

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial real estate finance transactions.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex transactions and maintain client relationships.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive bonus system that recognizes outstanding performance and contributions.
  • A diverse, middle-market focused practice with exposure to a wide range of sophisticated real estate finance transactions.
  • Opportunity to work with a variety of clients, including commercial banks, private debt funds, REITs, developers, and investors.

Although more commonly thought of as a Washington, DC, firm, this New York office has many of the same practice areas. As this firm continues to grow its New York office, this is a tremendous opportunity for associates to get in on the ground floor in terms of shaping the character of the office. We like the litigation work that is being done in this office, as it has a decidedly corporate bent, with an emphasis on securities litigations. A down-to-earth group of attorneys, this office should emerge as a practice unto itself over time.

Your information will not be forwarded to any employers at this time. A recruiter will contact you with more information once our internal review of your resume is completed.
