Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Law Attorney to provide comprehensive legal counsel to clients on environmental matters. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, conducting due diligence for transactions, and representing clients in litigation and administrative proceedings. The role requires strong research, negotiation, and communication skills, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.

Job Details:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of environmental laws, regulations, and precedents to provide clients with informed legal advice.
  • Assist clients in understanding and following local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including permitting, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure clients obtain necessary permits and licenses for various environmental projects and activities.
  • Conduct environmental due diligence for transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and real estate transactions, to assess potential environmental liabilities and risks.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, particularly long-term use and lease agreements related to environmental matters.
  • Regularly interact with and manage environmental consulting firms and consulting and testifying experts; prepare and present environmental reports to corporate boards and present legal positions for clients to groups of regulatory and private party stakeholders.
  • Participate in state and federal court litigation matters, administrative and legal proceedings, and mediation and arbitration.
  • Interact regularly with local, regional, and national law firms and in-house counsel.
  • Proven experience in environmental law, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and policy advocacy.
  • Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels; experience counseling clients on business risks related to regulatory obligations and enforcement actions.
  • Excellent research, legal writing, and strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Promote cooperation, professionalism, and commitment to achieve goals and deliverables both as an individual and in a team environment.
  • Project management and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet tight deadlines.

Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in Oklahoma (or ability to obtain a license in Oklahoma).
  • 5+ years of full-time environmental law experience (private practice and multi-state experience preferred).
  • Science, engineering, or other technical background preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma.
