Associate Attorney needed for Roanoke office

Location:

• Roanoke, VA

Duties:

• Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters, including premises liability, automobile accidents, and employment-related cases
• Develop defense strategies and conduct legal research to support case preparation
• Lead the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, taking depositions, and reviewing documents
• Prepare and argue motions, attend hearings, and represent clients in court proceedings
• Work directly with clients to provide updates, legal advice, and strategic guidance
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to ensure effective case management
• Participate in settlement negotiations and trial preparation
• Maintain detailed case files and ensure timely completion of all tasks
• Foster strong relationships with clients and ensure a high level of client satisfaction

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the Virginia State Bar or eligibility to waive into the Virginia Bar
• 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation preferred
• Ability to think critically, develop defense strategies, and manage complex cases independently
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience with legal research, drafting pleadings, and discovery requests
• Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Virginia State Bar (or eligibility to waive into the Virginia Bar)

Skills:

• Strong litigation skills, including trial preparation and oral advocacy
• Legal research and writing
• Discovery management and deposition experience
