Job Overview: A law firm in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Senior Patent Agent with extensive experience in patent prosecution and a solid technical background in biological or pharmaceutical sciences. Duties:

  • Conducting prior art searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
  • Analyzing patents and scientific papers to assist with patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling.
  • Manage patent portfolios and develop strategic plans.
  • Providing technical expertise in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or related fields.
  • Collaborating with attorneys and clients to develop patent strategies aligned with business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • 10+ years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Ph.D. or M.S. focused in biological sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or equivalent discipline.
  • Broad technical knowledge in relevant fields.
  • Experience in patent portfolio management and strategy development.
  • Excellent academic record and written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in a relevant technical field.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in conducting prior art searches.
  • Analytical skills for patent and scientific paper analysis.
  • Strategic thinking for patent portfolio management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
