A law firm in Metairie, LA, is seeking a dedicated Creditor's Rights Attorney to manage and represent clients in matters related to consumer credit collections. The ideal candidate will utilize their knowledge of state laws governing consumer collections and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to provide effective legal counsel. They must demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be capable of handling multiple cases while ensuring superior client service.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in creditor's rights cases, including court appearances, hearings, and negotiations.
  • Utilize the firm’s case management and reporting software to manage and track assigned matters efficiently.
  • Conduct legal research on consumer credit collections and relevant state laws to develop strategies for clients.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as complaints, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, providing updates on case progress and advising on legal options.
  • Attend meetings with clients, creditors, and other relevant parties to discuss case strategies and resolutions.
  • Handle attendant travel as required for court appearances and client meetings.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Louisiana in good standing.
  • Must have experience in creditor’s rights, consumer credit collections, or related litigation.
  • Thorough understanding of Louisiana state laws pertaining to consumer collections and familiarity with the FDCPA.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly.
  • Strong commitment to client care, with a proactive approach to addressing client needs.
  • Preferred multi-state licensure to handle cases across different jurisdictions.
