A law firm in Mount Laurel, NJ is seeking an Associate Attorney responsible for overseeing all aspects of mortgage and lending client case portfolios from assignment to conclusion. The candidate will draft legal pleadings, conduct legal research, update case management systems, communicate with clients and internal staff, and manage a high volume of files with accuracy and attention to detail.

 

Duties:

  • Oversee all aspects of mortgage and lending client case portfolios.
  • Draft legal pleadings, notices of hearings, motions, and orders.
  • Research and analyze statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, codes, and more.
  • Update case management system in a timely manner to ensure data integrity.
  • Travel to court for appearances and visit client sites as necessary.
  • Communicate and collaborate with clients, internal staff, and others for effective case management.
  • Identify legal issues/items requiring additional review.
  • Establish a strong follow-up system to ensure deadlines are met for various pleadings.
  • Attend routine and litigation hearings, settlement conferences, oral arguments, and other court appearances as necessary.
  • Manage own caseload with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Review case work prepared by paralegals and correct as necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • New Jersey State Bar Admission, active and in good standing.
  • Litigation skills.
  • Default, eviction, and/or bankruptcy experience with lenders and mortgage services in the State of New Jersey preferred.
  • Experience in client systems used in default services, such as Black Knight preferred.
  • Previous experience with electronic case management systems, especially CaseAware preferred.
  • Knowledge of laws related to practice areas, legal codes, and court procedures.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, able to positively interact and collaborate with clients and employees at all levels.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of cases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook and Word.
